Parish Transformation

Wellspring's mission takes place significantly within the Parish of St Joseph and St John the Baptist in East Brighton. We are working hard with the parish to respond to Pope Francis' call for parishes to become "completely mission-oriented".

Our desire is for the parish to become a vibrant, Christ-centred community, where all are welcomed and experience belonging, where seekers to the faith may encounter Christ, and where we are all committed to making a difference in our city. We want our parish to be a powerful sign of God's Kingdom in our midst.

We work with the parish to form disciples of Jesus: people who are in a lifelong process of learning from Jesus, deepening a relationship with him, and growing to be like Him. We seek to encourage and empower our parish members to go out to share the life and joy they have themselves received from Christ.

Our parish boundary covers an area that has many challenging social needs – Moulsecoomb, Coldean, Hollingdean, Bevendean, and Hanover; with the parish, we are dedicated to finding ways to alleviate suffering and poverty, taking seriously our responsibility as the Church of Christ in this time and place.

Our work with the parish includes our programme for Young Adults/Students, leadership on the Strategy Group and various teams, and involvement in mission and ministries from the choir to hospitality, the Night Shelter to Lightbulb, working with all ages and people in many and varied circumstances.
